Custom attributes are pieces of information that you give Book Report. Once added, you can generate reports based on the information you've provided.
- Go to the Books tab.
- Find the book to which you'd like to add an attribute.
- Click the + Add an attribute button.
- Type the attribute name on the left, and the value on the right.
When you're creating a new attribute, you will need to select the "Create a new attribute: Attribute Name" option from the dropdown.
That's it! Book Report now has one more bit of information about your book. Once you've added some attributes, you'll want to learn how to generate reports based on those attributes.
Once you've got the hang of it, you may want to learn how to edit the attributes of many books at once.
Some Examples:
If you want to be able to analyze your books based on which series they're in you should add one new type of attribute, called "Series", by putting it in the left-side text field. Then go through you books and put the name of the Series on the right side.
If you want to analyze by genre, you'll want to go through all your books and put "Genre" in the left-side text field, and the genre of the book on the right.
Think of it like this: The left side is for the type of attribute, like genre, series, length, or author. The right side for the value of that attribute, for the specified book, like fantasy, The Harry Potter Series, novel, or J. K. Rowling.
Don't worry about getting this wrong, as you can always delete a custom attribute later.
